On the evening of 4th November, 2023, James received The Hamilton Deane Award from The Dracula Society (at the Bram Stoker Birthday Dinner in the heart of London's West End) during its special 50th anniversary year among a record number of attendees; made all the more special by the fact that James was born in the very same month and year that the Society was founded. His speech was warmly received.

James Hyland will receive the highly prestigious Hamilton Deane Award from the world-renowned Dracula Society at its 50th Anniversary Bram Stoker Birthday Dinner for his performance as Dracula in his critically acclaimed stage production of 'Dracula's Guest' (of which he is also the adapter, director and producer). The award is named after the man who first made Dracula famous on the stage, and is awarded by The Dracula Society annually. Previous recipients include Sir Christopher Lee, Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Christopher Frayling, Denholm Elliott, Patrick Troughton, Guillermo del Toro, Michael Sheen, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Mark Gatiss. What makes this award even more meaningful is that The Society was founded in October 1973, the very month and year that James was born. Together, they will be celebrating their 50th!

This Summer James will be appearing as Lord Capulet in East London Shakespeare Festival's touring production of 'Romeo and Juliet', (16th June to 13th August) a riotous and atmospheric outdoor production of Shakespeare' star-crossed lovers. With ELSF's trademark contemporary twists and turns, high-energy party numbers and audience participation. The Masquerade Ball will be a party like no other – numbers to music from Lizzo, Dizzee Rascal, Gloria Estefan, Shirley Bassey and Clean Bandit.

The Earl's Court Film Festival (ECFF) was established in 2014, and this year, with its staggering international growth in popularity, relaunches to become The Earl's Court International Film Festival. Produced by James's award-winning production company Brother Wolf, the play is based on the works of Bram Stoker and offers an entirely unique interpretation of the eponymous character and an exploration of collective evil and personal spite.
