Written for the stage by multi-award-winning novelist Kim Newman, James Hyland plays the lead role of Inspector Nicholas Gammell, a rational detective with an unsolved case on his books and a suspect in his sights - a suspect who patiently sits within a protective magic circle. A NOMINATION FOR BEST ACTOR IN 'TRANSMISSION' AT THE FISHEYE FILM FESTIVAL
The new short film 'Transmission' in which James plays the lead role of Dr. Sam has debuted to worldwide critical acclaim, winning Best Local Film at the Drunken Film Fest 2017 and Best Short at The East Coast Film Festival 2017. Set in the future state of Britannia, a political prisoner finds himself violently oscillating between death and delirium, whilst precariously tethered to a noose by his tormentor and only friend, Dr. Sam. Currently playing at 46 different film festivals worldwide, James's performance has been reviewed by Andrew Mack of Screen Anarchy as "the key to this short film’s success... it is Hyland who really sells it. 'THE SOUND' IS OFFICIALLY SELECTED FOR THE HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL
The new short film 'The Sound', in which James appears opposite Joesph Mawle ('Game of Thrones'), has been selected from among thousands of entries to The HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood and will be screened alongside competition from major names, including actor and film-maker Matthew Modine ('Full Metal Jacket'). If it impresses judges enough to win, 'The Sound' could be sent to the Academy Awards for Oscar consideration in the Best Short Film category. The film, which follows a young girl desperate to find the source of the haunting sound plaguing her mother, screens at the world famous Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday 13th August at 7.30pm. 'The Sound' was produced by Noel Clarke's Unstoppable Entertainment in partnership with Brunel University London.

'A LESSON FROM AUSCHWITZ' RAISES £1565 FOR CHARITABLE CAUSES
To date, James's commemorative production of 'A Lesson from Auschwitz' has raised £1565 for charity. TWO BRITISH FEATURE FILMS NOMINATED FOR "BEST FILM"
James is currently appearing in the acclaimed feature films 'We Are Monster' (nominated for The Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh Festival, 2014) and 'The Cake Maker' (nominated for Best Festival Film at The Birmingham Black International Film Festival, 2014) in which James plays the lead role of a gangster. CHARITY PREMIERE OF 'THE ACCOUNTMENT OF LUKE' OPENS TO CRITICAL ACCLAIM
Under the mantle of his award-winning production company, Brother Wolf, James Hyland staged an Easter reading of 'The Accountment of Luke', a new portrayal of the last days of Jesus. Presented for the very first time in public, this unique depiction received a terrific response from its audience members: "you can't help but engage all your senses and imagination...
